Electrolux is one of the world leading manufacturers of refrigerators, washing machines, Hoovers etc. and was founded already in 1912. The name was earlier spelled Elektrolux with k. Elektrolux bought Archimedes in 1941 and continued the motor production. In 1943 they bought the Penta outboard motor production which was since 1935 fully owned by Volvo. ( Penta also produced Volvo car engines and from the beginning inboard motors as well). Volvo Penta today make inboard marine engines. Penta and Archimedes motors were sold under their old old names and the same motor was presented both as Archimedes and Penta. Archimedes B-22 low reving motor was also nicknamed “The djungle motor” and sold to many countries as a workhorse. It made good service on rivers in Africa and Amazonas and was easy to maintain and repair. Electrolux made later own constructed outbord motors up to 50hp and they were all painted white like the refrigerators. In 1965 Electrolux production of outboard motors was sold to Monark-Crescent in Uppsala.
